Sept. 28, 2010 - PRLog -- 2010 celebrates the 80th anniversary of Dunhill’s global launch of the Japanese lacquer Namiki pen. For this occasion, Kim Jones was to create a new collection in homage to Dunhill’s heritage.  From the tailored cut to the fabric used all the garments presented on catwalks from NewYork to Paris had a touch of Dunhill’s grand history.

Back in September 2009, whilst working on the new collection, the Dunhill design team came to visit the Hand & Lock Studio.

The Blazer Badge, designed by Hand & Lock, also looked deep into Dunhill’s heratige and brought back an old logo, using it as an integral part of the tribute. The design used is the original Alfred Dunhill monogram logo; hand embroidered and set in an oak leaf wreath.

These were embroidered in traditional purl and silks and were given a contemporary edge with the use of hand dyed black and gun metal.  This combined with the more traditional techniques gave Dunhill something completely new and individual.  Hand & Lock produced all hand embroidered blazer badges, stars and ‘single’ gorgets inspired by military badges Dunhill design team saw during their visit of the Studio in Central London.
