Follow on Google News | US Navy Approves Man In The Sea Memorial Monument in Washington DC Navy YardSeptember 19- US Navy approves the building of the Man In The Sea Memorial Monument at the original US Navy diving school at the Washington DC Navy Yard along the Anacostia River.
By: Kenneth Dreger The Man in the Sea Memorial Monument will be erected at the US Navy base along the Anacostia River adjacent to the local “River Walk” and will be accessible to the general public as well as the personnel stationed at the WNY Base. The MSMM project was started in 2003 by Homeland Security Policy Institute Group, and led by Mr. Jeff West, a former US Army Diver. Over the past 6+ years of this project we have made this dream a reality with the efforts of Dr. Thomas Barnes (Ret USN-LT) First Class Diver, President of Homeland Security Policy Institute Group, Ken Dreger, VP Homeland Security Policy Institute Group, Jeff West Director of Military Diving, Homeland Security Policy Institute Group, the Engineering firm HDR, Will Nuckols Consulting and the staff at the Washington Navy yard. Special Thanks go out to the Staff at the WNY, the Commanding officers present and past, the various consultants, engineering groups, and the gracious donors who without their trust in our determination would not have made this effort possible. With this approval HSPIG will now begin to collect the adequate funding for this project, and will be looking to the diving community, large corporate donors and those who believe in this worthy project to collect funds for this project.
