St. Louis Business brings national recognition to the plight of small businesses

Sept. 24, 2010 - PRLog -- Mirage Spa & Recreation, Inc. is not a nationally known company and is only known to anyone who has shopped for a hot tub in St. Louis.  Yet, several weeks ago Karen Port was quoted in the Wall Street Journal because of her fears of the expiration of the Bush tax cuts and how it will impact her small business which she co owns with her husband Dale Port.  The Port’s own a small business in Kirkwood that sells high end hot tubs (Sundance Spas).  Karen’s concerns that "People are going to be stepping back and not wanting to purchase luxury items" has her concerned about the future of the economy and her business.
This prompted a phone call from Fox Business News to find out if Karen would be able to do a live interview discussing the issues small business owners are having in today’s economy and how the expiration of the Bush tax cuts might impact her business.  Since then both Fox News and Fox Business News have flown out to St. Louis to do spotlights on Port.  “It is very exciting to see our business and our community gain recognition on a national level” explained Port.  She feels it is also important that our opinions get heard in Washington and that it is not ok to over spend our money which results in raising taxes to cover the excessiveness. “We can’t do that as a small business and if our country was run like a small business (watching our money closely) we wouldn’t have to increase our taxes.” states Port.
