Hudson Valley Hospital and Entergy Sponsor Care Partners Workshop at Gilda’s Club Westchester

PRLog (Press Release) - Sep. 23, 2010 - Caring for someone with a chronic illness can be a stressful and life changing experience as Christine Sotmary discovered while caring for her partner during his eight-year battle with early onset Alzheimer’s.

Sotmary, M.S., L.Ac, CPC a certified life coach from Hudson Valley Hospital Center in Cortlandt, will talk about how to rediscover the joys of caring for someone you love on Wednesday, Sept. 29 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Gilda’s Club Westchester at 80 Maple Avenue in White Plains.

Author of Living on the Verge of Insanity: Loving lessons learned from my sweetie's early-onset Alzheimer's Disease, Sotmary will share important lessons such as how to prevent burnout, how to deal with guilt, how to make time for yourself and how to ask others for help when you need it.

“The responsibility of caring for someone with a chronic illness can be overwhelming,’’ said Sotmary.  “It’s important that care partners find time for themselves and not cut themselves off from resources and support they need to maintain their health and provide quality care to their loved ones.’’
