Sept. 23, 2010 - PRLog -- Who says dot coms make shopping impersonal? For one e-business based in Salt Lake City, Utah, that stereotype does not apply. BabySteals.com is a two-year-old one-deal-a-day site featuring name-brand boutique clothing, accessories and gear for babies and moms. Through word-of-mouth, the site has become hugely popular among the mommy set in the U.S. and Canada. Last week, the sites’ founders surprised their Canadian fans with an unprecedented three-day, three-city tour, hand-delivering orders and showing up where they were least expected.

Jana Francis, BabySteals.com’s President, hatched the idea while communicating with her customers on the site’s Facebook page (now with more than 70,000 fans and continuing to grow virally). Canadian customers are among the most vocal on the fan page. They have even started coordinating BabySteals.com meet-ups – parties where the only things that attendees have in common are motherhood and BabySteals.com. They also regularly joke about how great it would be if “Mr. BabySteals” — what they’ve dubbed the company’s co-founder, Rett Clevenger — would hand-deliver their packages.

Francis agreed. It would be great. And crazy.

So Francis booked flights for herself and Mr. BabySteals and headed north to surprise the Canadian moms. Project “We Send Joy” was on.

On September 15, the duo crashed a BabySteals.com meet-up at a fan’s house (that fan, Dunia Pinnegar, was the only customer who was in on the plan). Francis and Clevenger then set off to fulfill their surprise deliveries, knocking on 15 doors each day, traveling through Vancouver, Edmonton and Calgary.

“I could barely believe it when Jana and Rett were standing in my living room with me and a dozen other unsuspecting BabySteals.com fans,” said Pinnegar. “What other company goes so far as to meet up with their customers, let alone in another country? It just goes to show that the Steal Network isn't just a company that provides great products, stellar customer service and prompt shipping. They are a company with heart that truly loves their customers. They take 'customer appreciation' to a whole new level.”

“I never could have imagined customers like we have,” said Francis. “We wanted to make an extra effort to let them know, in person, how much they mean to us. For us to show up on their doorsteps? In another country? Who does that? We may be nuts, but our customers are totally worth it.”
