Assembly Candidate Holds Cuomo Campaign To Word

Joe McLaughlin asks Cuomo to put leadership over partisanship with endorsement in 81st Assembly District

Sept. 23, 2010 - PRLog -- RIVERDALE, Bronx – Attorney General Cuomo is looking for allies in his fight to reform Albany.  He has found one in Joe McLaughlin of the 81st Assembly district.   McLaughlin has asked Cuomo to endorse his candidacy over his opponent, incumbent Jeffrey Dinowitz.   Cuomo has said he speaks for all people and parties in New York, now he is being challenged to show it.

In a letter sent yesterday to the Attorney General’s campaign office, Joe McLaughlin drew similarities to each other’s platforms.  Both Cuomo and McLaughlin have pledged to adopt the New York Uprising proposals of budget reform, ethics reform and an independent redistricting plan.  McLaughlin and Cuomo also support a property tax cap and a tax policy that will make New York State a more business friendly environment.

“The people of the Bronx and New York are looking for leadership, not partisanship when they go to the polls this November.  Attorney General Cuomo and I realize the need for meaningful reforms and will work together in Albany to bring change to New York,” said Joe McLaughlin.  “My opponent, Jeffrey Dinowitz, has been named an ‘Enemy of Reform’ by former Mayor Ed Koch and has a voting record that is 95% in line with Speaker Sheldon Silver.  His 16 year record in office proves he can not be trusted to work with either gubernatorial candidate to bring needed reform.”

Joe is eager to get to Albany to work with either candidate.  Both Carl Paladino and Cuomo have signed the NY Uprising pledges and have proposed solutions to ease the burden of taxpayers and small business.  Joe plans to be a partner in reforming state government.

McLaughlin has won the endorsement of the Republican, Conservative and Independence Parties in his Northwest Bronx district.   Born and raised in Bronx, he is now a career businessman and currently works for TMG Housing as Director of Acquisitions.  In his position, he works to provide working class and blue collar families with affordable housing.  Joe lives with his wife and two young daughters in Riverdale.

Joe concluded, “The status quo is unacceptable.  Now is the time for reform-minded New Yorkers in both parties to set aside their differences and do what is right for the people. There is no more important issue facing New York than ethics reform, and I believe it is vital that we all work together to clean up Albany.”
