Sept. 22, 2010 - PRLog -- RJF Agencies’ shareholders clearly found inspiration in the company’s freshly defined Philanthropy Mission as they solicited donations from insurance companies and business partners over the past couple months. Their efforts supporting RJF’s second annual Charity Challenge fundraising drive resulted in a 70 percent increase in donations, breaking the goal of raising $100,000 for Admission Possible and Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota.

As of Sept. 1, the privately held provider of insurance and risk management solutions has raised $102,300 for the two organizations in support of its new Philanthropy Mission: “RJF is committed to improving the well-being of children in the communities we serve by focusing on their health and development.” Additional donations are anticipated to continue over the coming weeks.

Charity involvement is nothing new for RJF. It held an annual charity golf event for about 15 years and has made numerous donations of time and money to various organizations every year since its inception in 1986. But shareholders wanted to make sure their contributions were making a significant impact on those in need. They also wanted to ensure unity among themselves and the employees around RJF’s philanthropic efforts rather than continuing their informal approach to charitable giving. This determination led to the establishment of the RJF Philanthropy Mission.

“Our people really rallied around this new focus,” said Bill Jeatran, RJF’s Chief Executive Officer. “Everyone wanted to help, and you could feel and see the excitement as our shareholders called on our partners asking for their support and our employees collected donations internally. Needless to say, I’m incredibly pleased and more excited than ever about the impact RJF can make within our community as we continue working with and for these two incredible organizations.

“I’m also extraordinarily grateful for the assistance and support provided by the insurance companies and business partners with whom we work,” Jeatran added. “They came through for us and their help will improve the lives of a lot of children and their families.”

The internal excitement seemed contagious. The number of donating companies increased by 25 percent over last year’s Charity Challenge. Additionally, the average donation increased by more than 40 percent.

The two largest donors agreed that the narrowed focus nudged them toward higher donation levels. Insurance companies CNA and Chubb were both platinum level donors that significantly increased their financial support this year. CNA, the top donor, quadrupled its 2009 donation and Chubb nearly quintupled theirs.

“We applaud the leadership, focus and commitment RJF has demonstrated to its Philanthropy Mission, and are delighted to lend our support,” said Greg Vezzosi, Central Zone Officer, CNA. “In addition to our financial support, we look forward to working alongside RJF employees, volunteering our time to improve the well being of children in our communities.”

“Chubb and our employees are thrilled to participate with RJF in giving both our time and financial support to these great organizations,” added Tim Shannahan, Senior Vice President, Chubb & Son.

RJF provided a 20 percent match to all donations, and donors were also invited to participate in volunteer events with the two charities and RJF employees. A reception will be held Oct. 25 at RJF’s Twin Cities headquarters to celebrate the successful campaign.
