Sept. 22, 2010 - PRLog -- Donald A. O’Day has been promoted to President of Suburban Bank & Trust (SBT). Bank Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Blanche Hill announced the promotion of O’Day, 43, who also will become a member of the Elmhurst, Illinois-based bank’s board of directors.  The veteran Chicago banker previously served as executive vice president of commercial banking and chief credit officer.

“Don has demonstrated tremendous leadership skills and management capability, and his promotion is well-deserved recognition of his contributions,” said Hill. “He will apply his substantial talent and experience to growing Suburban Bank & Trust into an even stronger institution in the future.”

“Don brings deep experience to his new position in both the retail and commercial sides of banking.  He understands the challenges that community banks and their customers face in today’s difficult economy.  Time and again, he has demonstrated an ability to build relationships, manage, assess risk and creditworthiness and lead our strong team of people.”

Prior to joining Suburban Bank & Trust in 2007, O’Day served as senior vice president, Illinois business banking director at Banco Popular North America.  Before his time at Banco Popular began in 2002, O’Day spent seven years in leadership roles at Cole Taylor Bank as a senior vice president and director of community banking.  He began his career at Oak Brook Bank in 1989.

“My goal is to make SBT even stronger for our customers and shareholders,” O’Day said.  “We will pursue opportunities we identify in today’s economic environment to develop additional business with our existing customers as well as new underserved customer segments.  As customers continue to value and trust the service and relationships community banks provide, our entire team stands ready to deliver and serve their needs.”

Mr. O’Day is a graduate of the University of Illinois-Champaign, and holds a bachelor’s of science degree in finance. He and his wife, Gayle, reside in Naperville.  Mr. O’Day was born and raised in Elmhurst.

Mrs. Hill has led Suburban Bank & Trust since the death of her husband, David, in 2002.  She said O’Day’s broader responsibilities will allow her to focus on board matters, strategy and policy-making as well as pursue the bank’s community relationships and her own civic and charitable activities.

She is president of the board of directors of the Elmhurst Art Museum, a board member of the Elmhurst Memorial Hospital Foundation, and a member of the board of trustees of the Glenwood School for Boys and Girls.
