"Because the workout is so much fun, people tend to stay with the program and see results," says Jeannie Fazio, Zumba Fitness instructor. "It feels more like dancing with friends than working out. You can burn over 600 calories an hour, depending on the level of intensity of your workout."
Zumba Fitness incorporates salsa, cumbia, merengue and exotic international music and dance moves. The routines feature aerobic interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body. It targets areas such as thighs, legs, arms and abdominals. It is a mixture of body sculpting movements and easy to follow dance steps.
"You don't have to be a dancer to join in. It's for all ages and body types," says Fazio. "If you've gotten out of the habit of working out, you'll rediscover how good it feels. You'll have more energy and less stress when you Zumba."
