Sept. 21, 2010 - PRLog -- Minneapolis, MN - Environmental health and safety program management technology from ApexOD will be unveiled at the upcoming ASBO 2010 Annual Meeting, held in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, from September 24 – 27.

According to Duff Dorschner, President of ApexOD, “We are proud to introduce our environmental health & safety program management technology to School Business Officials from across the nation.  Facility Management Professionals and School Business Officials in select areas have embraced ApexOD’s cost-saving and performance improving technology over a number of years and we are excited to unveil it to their peers.”

One of ApexOD’s Minnesota clients, Wayzata Public Schools, won a 2009 EPA Indoor Air Quality National Excellence Award.  Health & Safety Coordinator, Rodger Schaefbauer, likes to explain how ApexOD technology has allowed him to, “Enjoy an OSHA inspection.”

“The return on investment makes ApexOD a ‘no-brainer’ for School Business Officials,” says Dorschner.  “Now, more than ever, accountability and transparency are moving from buzz words to real taxpayer demands.  So whether more efficiently using tax dollars with time-saving handheld technology for environmental inspections and audits or simply using intuitive task management to ensure that ‘urgent’ doesn’t overwhelm ‘important’ when it comes to resolving environmental health and safety action items in schools, ApexOD drives better results with existing staff while enabling better stewardship of diminishing financial resources.”

The health and safety challenges can sometimes be temporarily hidden or overlooked, but the risks and responsibilities are a perpetual management challenge.  Dorschner explains, “Schools have to have an ongoing process to identify where the health and safety problems exist, have a constantly evolving plan to remove or mitigate those risks, and up to date documentation of their progress against that plan.  Increasingly, communication to stakeholders needs to embrace the web.”

Unfortunately, as Dorschner points out, “Many educational organizations are succeeding in only one or two of these steps.  All too often, schools make most of the effort (and spend significant dollars), but fail in tracking progress and status, leaving an environment rife with excesses, missed opportunities, and rework.”

ApexOD can be found in Booth 334 at the ASBO International Meeting.
