U.S. Senate Candidate Vlakancic Focuses on California Voter "TopTwo" Reform

"Just-in-Time" candidate for U.S. Senator raises an alarm with Proposition 14's ‘Closed’ General Election

Sept. 19, 2010 - PRLog -- SANTA CRUZ, California -- Connor Vlakancic, Independent Nonpartisan Patriot, today launched his 11th hour campaign as a write-in candidate for the U.S. Senate from California seat being contested by Barbara Boxer (D) and Carly Fiorina (R).

“California voters have been denied fair and ‘Open’ General Elections in November by Proposition 14 that is disproportional in favoring the Duopoly political parties,” says Connor Vlakancic. “Only the shameless political maneuverings of professional career politicians could perpetrate a fraudulent ‘Open Primary’ voter deception on the independent-minded California electorate. The real potential calamity of either or both of the ‘TopTwo’ primary candidates being discredited during the campaign leading to the November General Election is California's scalding "Hot Button".  Discovery of future candidates to be a Gary Hart or Duke Cunningham is being ignored by candidates Boxer and Fiorina in their politics-as-usual personal-attack lambasting campaign rhetoric.”

Vlakancic was the first Reform Party candidate in history as a write-in candidate for Representative of California's 15th Congressional District in the special election to replace Representative Norm Mineta in November, 1995. He has since been an active spokesman for free and fair elections that are completely independent of raising vast sums of cash by the candidates.

“In the June 7th, 2010 Primary Election, 5,173,477 California voters cast their opinion on Proposition 14, crafted by professional career politicians, and claiming to provide an open primary election,” says Vlakancic.

Proposition 14 prohibits political parties from nominating candidates in a primary, although political parties will be allowed to endorse, support or oppose candidates. Prohibiting political parties from nominating candidates in a primary election, paid for by the taxpayers, is, according to Vlakancic, “A standalone good idea to ‘take money out of political elections’ for the taxpayers.  Therefore ending taxpayer support for the political party official nominated candidate selection process is a great idea.”

Connor Vlakancic proposes an enlightened California Proposition with a resolve that all future Primary Elections will require all political parties to nominate their preferred candidates through some internal process, financed by the parties, and without taxpayer funding.  This would turn the November General Election into an "Open Election" of the political party nominated candidates plus the political party not nominated candidates, and all Independent and non-partisan candidates. All voters would then have unlimited option to specify their candidate preferences (including vilifying the corrupt or otherwise undesirable candidates).  The electorate selected candidate is the one that receives the voter's 50%+ highest preference ahead of all other candidates.

Vlakancic was born in Illinois, "The land of Lincoln."  Quoting the strong determination of “dare to do their duty,” the famous speech of Abraham Lincoln, “The current voter electorate of California must ‘dare to do their duty’ to pass on to California's progeny such a comprehensive November General Election process that will be able to catapult the highest-quality candidates into office," said U.S. Senator Candidate Connor Vlakancic.
