Then along came the government and we found out how stupid we were. “You have to build it this high, drive it this deep, place it here, move it this much, ect.”! It did not matter that everything you had built or repaired was still in good service. You had to comply or be fined or not do a job at all. This is the way “our” government creates jobs by requiring more regulators. Every one has to be certified or you can not work. Within the last 15yrs I have had to go get license to do stuff that I have been doing all of my life. I wired a big house in 1957, I was 14yrs old and everything still works. This is just one example.
So now there is no more pride in your work you just do enough to pass inspection and that is good enough. The whole system has gotten out of hand. We have elected and hired idiots to control us and tell us just how stupid we are. There are a few exceptions to my last statement but not many. Some of the local people are a pleasure to work with, they are just a messenger and don't understand some of it either.
I thought I needed this back ground to qualify myself for this article. I am a supposed property owner, but actually you rent the land from the government. You pay them taxes so that they can regulate you or protect you from yourself. I have a Mobile Home Park on a creek in southeastern Ga. It has not flooded in it's 38yrs existence. We mostly rent lots to people to bring in there own homes. Normal cost $150.00 a month with average water $30.00.
I went to get a permit the other day and was told that my property had been put in a flood zone on August 5th 2010. With this new regulation, I have to have a topographical survey so the home will be placed at the proper level above flood stage. There has to be special footers poured and the blocks mortared or glued in place. Estimated extra cost $1,000-$2,000 per home for set-up. Also $100-$200 per month flood insurance. Now do you think anyone would be foolish enough to rent a space from me. I asked why this was happening and was told that this was coming out of Washington and now one had any control over it. This is a directive coming from “FEMA” and you either comply or close or go to jail. I will have to maintain this property as best I can on my own with my homes until they shut me down all the way. I will never be able to sell it.
We some how need to get our country back. I feel that I have been totally screwed by my own government. I am to old to fight it, so I am getting into Network Marketing, I sure hope the government doesn't screw that up to. I have found some good honest leadership in my network marketing company. There leadership skills remind me of training I had growing up. I sure hope that you have not been put in a flood zone beware of “FEMA”. Before you go to spend money on your place you had better be sure that your “Uncle” has not put you out of business.
