Sept. 17, 2010 - PRLog -- Dr. Terry Paulson, noted professional speaker, author of The Optimism Advantage, and columnist for Townhall.com, has been selected by the recently launched http://www.RightNetwork.com as a featured columnist. Dr. Paulson’s first column and embedded video posted on Friday, September 17th, provides ten timely tips for maintaining civil political discourse.

“In a time of economic uncertainty with a critical mid-term election only weeks away, it is time for Americans to get beyond the political polarization and find ways to explore the issues that are critical to an informed vote,” Dr. Paulson said. “You don’t get that by talking only with people who agree with you. We are blessed with the freedom to voice our differences, but not many know how to carry on a conversation without risking mayhem.”

“The Tea Party faithful have had an amazing impact on the Fall primary elections,” Paulson asserted. “But winning a mid-term election requires putting down the signs and talking with people who aren’t sure about how they are going to vote. Conservatives have helped clarify the choice America now faces, but now they face the challenge of becoming contagious for the conservative principles they support. I want to give them some tools to help them do just that.”

The Right Network was launched September 8th and has already exploded into becoming an emerging force in promoting conservative principles and providing alternative entertainment conservatives can be proud to watch. As Kelsey Grammer, star of Frasier and Cheers, has said in support, "RightNetwork is filling a big gap with entertainment programs that combine compelling content with a perspective we don't generally get from the media. …We're bringing outstanding talent and production values to our television, internet and mobile platforms. I'm proud to be part of this team!"

The column on civil political discourse explores the importance of manners, empathy, listening, questioning for clarity not agreement, and choosing words that encourage dialogue instead of triggering hostile reactions.

“It’s great to be on this impressive team of professionals,” said Paulson. “I’m hoping that more Americans visit http://www.RightNetwork.com and get into the dialogue that promises to make a difference this November.”
