Sept. 20, 2010 - PRLog -- TICONDEROGA, NY – Dozens of area children will now have adequate supplies for the school year thanks to donations made by those who participated in the first annual Ticonderoga Federal Credit Union (TFCU) School Supplies Drive.

School supplies were collected at TFCU offices and ATM locations beginning in mid-August through Labor Day.  The donations were delivered to eight area schools, Tuesday September 7th.

"We are very grateful for the generosity of our members and several non-members, for helping make our 1st annual drive a success," said Greg Johnson, President and CEO at the TFCU. "As a result of the kindness shown by our community, many students now have the basic tools needed to be successful in the classroom."  Greg added, "Today's economy is tough on parents and on schools.  We're pleased to support the education of our local children through the supplies and monetary donations from our local people."

TFCU would like to share a few snippets from thank you notes they've received from the schools;

"We are carefully distributing what you have donated to those children with the greatest need.  The smiles on their faces as they take ownership of what you've donated is priceless."

"Building a solid academic foundation in elementary school is very important.  Having the right tools to accomplish this will help make that happen."

"We really appreciate your support and thank you for thinking of our children at this most important time in their lives."

The Ticonderoga Federal Credit Union currently operates three conveniently located offices at 1178 NYS Route 9N in Ticonderoga, NY, 43 Meacham Street in Port Henry, NY and 7519 Court Street in Elizabethtown, NY.  For more information on becoming a member of the TFCU, go to http://www.tfcunow.com
