Sept. 16, 2010 - PRLog -- Waukesha, WI: Attention all darling dachshunds, snappy Schnauzers, pampered Pomeranians and handsome hounds in the Waukesha area…it’s time to check out the new dog in town! The Milwaukee/Waukesha area’s first Camp Bow Wow will open its play yards on Thursday, September 30.  When it opens, Waukesha’s puppy parents can leave their fur-legged friends at the country’s Premier Doggy Day and Overnight Camp for a full-day of play and socializing with the confidence that their beloved companions will be well cared for while they’re off to work, catching a Brewer’s game in Miller Park, taking in the latest offering at the Pabst Theater or jetting off for a much needed vacation. At Camp Bow Wow, all campers, pedigreed pups and motley mutts alike, are encouraged to romp and play the day away.

Conveniently located at 1707 Paramount Court, in Waukesha, just minutes off of Interstate 94 at Goerkes Corners, this state-of-the-art digs for dogs has amenities guaranteed to keep tails wagging. The 6,500 square foot Camp has four large, climate-controlled indoor play areas with adjoining outside yards, giving campers the ability to roam inside or out at will.  All campers join a playgroup, assigned according to their temperament and activity level. A fourth play yard, aptly named the Teacup yard, provides a haven for pint-sized pups. Outside, the fenced play yards are equipped with doggy playground equipment, and special bone-shaped doggy swimming pools and shade sails to ensure that campers are comfortable, even on the hottest dog-day afternoon. Inside, they’ll find plenty to keep them busy, or if they prefer, a cozy nook to curl up and nap.

“The safety and happiness of our Campers are our highest priorities,” said Kelly Ingui, co-owner of Camp Bow Wow Waukesha. “That’s one of the reasons our complimentary Meet & Greet day is so important. Every dog is a unique individual with unique needs. Most are ready to join the pack immediately while others are more timid and get stressed in new situations. The Meet & Greet day not only allows us to observe how each pup reacts to a new environment but gives each dog the opportunity to explore the Camp at his/her own pace.”

Interested puppy parents can look in on the escapades in the play yards by logging on to the Camp’s website or connecting via the Camp Bow Wow iPhone App to view the real-time footage broadcast by the many Camper CamsSM mounted throughout the facility. The camp-style lobby will house a re-tail shop stocked with the latest in must-have doggy accessories like leashes and collars, adorable dog toys and healthy treats. Grooming services will also be offered on premises. Camp Bow Wow Waukesha will be working with local humane organizations to foster homeless pups with the intent of finding them a new family and a new leash on life.

“Dogs, like humans, are social animals and love being around people and other pups,” continued Kathy Ward, co-owner of Camp Bow Wow Waukesha. “As a whole, they’re much happier in a group situation than being cooped up at home all day. At Camp Bow Wow, our all-day open play philosophy provides situations where dogs can make decisions for themselves: whether to play inside or outside; to rest or rumble. It’s a much healthier environment for them.”

After a full day of play, day campers head home for the evening tired and ready to relax. Overnight campers retire to one of the Camp’s 50 spacious, private, climate-controlled cabins for dinner and a rest. All cabins are furnished with comfy cots and soft fleece blankets and are large enough to accommodate two or three pups from the same family if their guardian would like them to stay together. The pups also enjoy special Campfire Treats before bedtime. Camp Bow Wow’s fees are all inclusive; overnight rates include all day fun.

All campers at Camp Bow Wow are supervised by a staff of Certified Camp Counselors® trained in pet CPR, first aid, dog behavior, group play dynamics, safety/health management and, of course, cleaning procedures.  There is at least 1 counselor at Camp for every 15 campers during play times.

To further help ensure safety and security of all campers, new arrivals are required to participate in a free Meet & Greet day, before they can attend camp on a regular basis.  Canine campers must be on flea and tick preventative; at least four-months old; spayed or neutered if six months or older; up-to-date on their Rabies and Distemper vaccinations; have had a Bordetella (canine cough) vaccination within the last six months; and be in general good health and of sound temperament.

A Wisconsin native, Ingui trained as an architect and practiced residential design for years before deciding to make a career change. Always passionate about dogs, with several rescue dogs of her own at home, Ingui discovered Camp Bow Wow in an issue of Success magazine. “When I saw the ad for the Camp Bow Wow franchise, it was if a light went off. I knew I’d found my calling.”

Ward, also a native of Wisconsin, owned part of a roofing company for years. When she sold her portion of the company in 2007, she began looking for a new opportunity.  A long-time supporter of the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, Ward is also passionate about pups. The two were introduced by a mutual friend (who is also Ingui’s sister-in-law) and decided to open a Camp Bow Wow together.
