Pranamat ECO - The Only FDA-Approved Acupressure Mat in the US

Sept. 16, 2010 - PRLog -- Advaita Art—a producer of health and wellness products based in Latvia—has received approval from the US FDA for the Pranamat ECO acupressure mat, making it the only FDA-approved acupressure mat in the US.  The Pranamat is officially registered as a “medical device and therapeutic massager mat.”

The Pranamat has passed extensive FDA requirements for any product that may come into prolonged contact with the skin.

Unlike other massage mats on the market, the Pranamat is 100% effective and safe.  There are no rubber foam fillers to decay and trap dust and allergens, no plastics laden with heavy metals and allergen-causing dyes, no synthetic fibers, and no glue or superficially painted-on graphics and logos.  

The Pranamat was also submitted to rigorous certification under European Union safety laws.  The HIPS plastic used to create the rigid lotus flowers affixed to the mat is registered in the EU as being safe for food contact.   The plastic lotuses are certified as being free of elevated levels of heavy metals like lead, mercury or cadmium.

The Pranamat’s coconut mattresses are certified in the EU as “meeting the human and ecological requirements of the standard presently established for baby articles.”

Acupressure mats have become highly popular in Europe, and the Advaita Pranamat ECO model was the top selling Christmas gift in Sweden in 2009.  The mats work by stimulating nerve endings and blood flow, which in turn releases endorphins and hormones like oxytocin, creating feelings of calm and well-being.

Acupressure mats are typically used for periods ranging from 5 minutes to 2 hours.  Extended contact with non-approved mats can cause allergic reactions to dyes, glues, foam or plastics used in the construction of the mats.

The Pranamat ECO uses H.I.P.S. plastic in the production of its lotus-shaped spikes.  
H.I.P.S. is one of the most ecologically effective and safe plastics for human use—the production method releases 43% less hazardous emissions into the air, uses 42% less water and requires 30% less power.  It is also one of the few plastics approved for recycling and re-processing.  

Other materials used in the Pranamat ECO include natural coconut coir mattresses, 100% cotton liners, and 100% linen flax covers.
