New Front Shox-Box rowing machine accessory, for the Concept2, launched by Blackstone Automation

Sept. 17, 2010 - PRLog -- Blackstone Automation, LLC., Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, announces the launch of its new Front Shox-Box for use with the Concept2 indoor rowing machine.  This new product was designed to give the indoor rowing machine a ‘real water’ feel at the catch while reducing the harsh forces on rowers’ knees, neck, shoulders and more.  The Front Shox-Box complements Blackstone’s existing Rear Shox-Box which has provided relief to countless sore backs.    

David Baker, Blackstone Automation President and Shox-Box inventor, comments, “Until now, technique workouts on an erg were unheard of.  With the addition of the Front Shox-Box, the complete system now provides the ‘float of a boat’ and the rower has to maintain balance from the catch to release and back every stroke.”  Baker adds, “I trained with a Front Box prototype through most of last winter.  It successfully prepared me for a much smoother transition from an erg back to a boat in the spring.”

Consisting of a front and rear Shox-Box, which can be purchased separately, the Shox-Box system moves the indoor rowing machine both vertically and laterally giving the user an improved, more comfortable feel like they are out on the water.  The Shox-Box system allows the rower to focus on their core and balance while the Shox-Box absorbs the impact instead of their body.  In addition to the on-the-water feel, the Shox-Box system relieves discs and joints, improves technique, and provides enhanced strength training.

The new Front Shox-Box product was launched as the USRowing Masters Nationals (Camden, New Jersey).  Blackstone Automation will also demonstrate the Shox-Box products at the Textile River Regatta (Lowell, MA) on October 3rd, the Head of the Charles (Boston, MA) October 22 – 24, and the Head of the Hooch (Chattanooga, TN) November 6 – 7.
