Bluffton, S.C. – September 15, 2010 – In what is typically considered one of the slowest months for real estate nationally, Beaufort County sales have increased over last year’s numbers. Helping buck this downward trend was the Hampton Lake community in Bluffton which has reported strong sales throughout 2010.

The lake community, named “Best in America” by The National Association of Homebuilders, had 13 sales in August alone, bringing its year-to-date total to 77, a number which exceeds total sales for 2009. August sales included purchases of homesites as well as homes from the Cottage Imagination and Lakeland Collections plus three sales from the recently-launched Arbor Collection.

Hampton Lake President, Gerrit Albert, said “We couldn’t be more pleased. We’ve seen steadily increasing numbers at Hampton Lake throughout this entire year. I believe this not only shows positive signs about the re-emergence of the real estate market, but also that smart buyers are focused in on the fact that with prices at all-time lows in one of America’s premier retirement destinations, this is a great time to buy.”

Albert points out that the Bluffton/Hilton Head Island area has long been a location for both first and second homebuyers which adds to its potential for a strong and quick rebound. “It’s not difficult to understand why this area represents two out of the top three areas in the state to experience an increase in sales volume, said Albert.”

According to recent figures from the South Carolina Realtor’s Association, the Hilton Head Island/Bluffton and the nearby Beaufort area were among only three in the state where home sales increased in July than during the same month in 2009. The third was the southern Midlands area. In fact, every month this year has seen sales increase in comparison to the same month last year in the Hilton Head/Bluffton and Beaufort areas.

The Hampton Lake community now stands strong at over 500 members and growing.
