Sept. 15, 2010 - PRLog -- How you would like to feel like a kid in a chocolate factory? Well, every year in Italy there is a festival will at least give you a sample of what that would be like. Here you can consume almost two to four kilos worth of chocolate in the space of nine days. Dating back to 1993 and going by the name of 'EuroChocolate', the festival is one the largest chocolate festivals in Europe and gathers around million visitors per year. The festival is held in the historic centre of Perugia, across various places such as the Carducci Gardens, Piazza Italia, Piazza della Repubblice, Corso Vannucci, Via Mazzini, Via Fani, The Terrance of the Covered Market and the Piazza November Ivth. It estimated that the festival generates an annual sale of 350 million Euros.

You must wondering how does this festival continue to generate more and more visitors per year, and how it does so well - well the festival always innovates itself and changes theme every year.  They focus on the commercial side of things, but also promote and educate looking at the cultural aspect of chocolate as well.  These are usually under the moniker of “food of the gods” where exhibitions, laboratories, internships, cooking classes, chocolate tasting, expositions, banquets, celebrations and the Eurochocolate Awards.

Being that Perugia is the capital of the Umbria region in central Italy you can find a decent place to stay and if you don't mind travelling a bit out then you can stay at one of the many Tuscany villas.  Also, Perugia is a beautiful city so you can work off all the you accumulated over the days by going to one of the many monuments that are there.

There will be more than 700 booths at the festival and you will be able to sample some of the most well known chocolate brands such as Lindt and Caffarel, also Italy's most well known chocolate company Perugia. But it's not only brand name chocolate that you can get a taste of you can also sample chocolate from all over the world such places where the chocolate come from are Vietnam, Cuba, Bolivia and Papua New Guinea these are handed in special trowels.

There are various types of chocolate related treats there such as Chocolate covered bananas, chocolate liqueur, chocolate moulds, chocolate bricks and other types of chocolate that you can't find in then regular shop. There are even more unique combinations that you wouldn't find anywhere else but here such as chocolates made with pasta, salami and cheeses.  This shows they are really chocolate mad there.

The Eurochocolate festival is really an event dedicated to fans of chocolate, but with so much to do it can convert even those who aren't too kind on it to chocoholics. If they don't want to eat it then could learn about the history or the process of making it, its just more than stuffing your face until you feel stuff but maybe that is the reason why you want to go.
