Child Opera Singing Sensation To Record Crossover Album

Sept. 13, 2010 - PRLog -- Aria Tesolin, widely known as the youngest opera singer in the world, began performing as a child opera singer at 8 years old in concerts with local tenors.  She left many people in her audience visibly moved with her precocious talent. At 12 she released her CD Baby Soprano, featuring 14 tracks of popular opera arias, and later performed with The Canadian Tenors.  

To date her YouTube videos have amassed a digital viewership of nearly 5 million people and her amazing vocal talent has been featured on every Canadian news channel and several television shows.

Named Aria by coincidence, her singing talent was discovered by parents and others at the age of 3. Insistent on singing at a social gathering of 70 people, she sang Far Longer Than Forever, a song she had learned from watching the childrens’ movie Swan Princess. But this was no ordinary 3-year old singing simple toddler tunes. Instead she lit the room with a resonant and beautiful tuneful soprano voice complete with a natural vibrato. Her performance was met with stunned silence followed by a thunderous standing ovation.
By the time she was 4 she had learned all the songs from the musical Evita.

At 7, she was inspired to learn opera songs after hearing pop tenor Andrea Bocelli. Opera coach Gofreddo Ricci, recommended by a former Canadian Opera Company maestro, made an exception from his professional adult opera coaching practice to teach Aria because of her advanced musicality. With mutual joy and frequent laughter, the two worked closely together for nearly two years, until his sudden passing in early 2002.

While vocal talent like this is comparatively rare among young children, opera legend Maria Callas also displayed her remarkable talent while very young, and sang on television at age 12. Young Beverly Sills performed similarly at the age of 9. Because Aria is the youngest and  mostly widely known in recent times, she has been the model for current aspiring child opera singers who have contacted her to share her experience.

Aria is Canadian with Northern Italian heritage (Veneto-Venice), where the tradition of opera was born. Bilingual in English and French, she sings in six languages. Now 17, with 10 years of vocal practice behind her, she has also become an original songwriter.

Like other 17 year old singers, namely Taylor Swift in pop country and Miley Cyrus in pop, Aria has found a unique niche, genre and style of her own. Her sophomore album will showcase her beautiful signature voice as a mature singer and enable her to experiment with crossover genres. New singles are planned for release starting in late fall. These will launch in North America under her own label, and in Italy with european label and management company Europhone Records.
