Nonprofit Bridges the Gap Between Health Care and Family Needs
New Website Launches to Support Families in Medical Crisis

Mount Pleasant, S.C., September 13, 2010 – CrossBridge Family Ministries announces the launch of its new website, www.cross-bridge.org. The site will augment the nonprofit’s mission of bridging the gap between the needs of families or individuals in a medical crisis and the health care system.

Dealing with hospital patients in the Charleston area undergoing complex and often life-threatening procedures, CrossBridge offers a helping hand to families regardless of their faith, ethnicity or cultural backgrounds, so that they can focus on the healing process of their loved ones. The organization provides financial and emotional support to those in need including housing, childcare, hot meals, counseling, pastoral care and bereavement services.

The website introduces a new set of tools to CrossBridge that will enhance the organization’s outreach and fundraising capabilities and allow for more interaction with the local community. Visitors can share their stories with CrossBridge, ask for help, read stories of other families, exchange comments, and offer support and prayers. Additionally, the site lists volunteer opportunities, community events, integrates social media networks and offers RSS feeds.

“We want people to know they are not alone,” says Melissa Altman, chair of the organization. “Many of our families come to this area for specialty medical care that requires prolonged stay, sometimes far away from home. Such circumstances, along with complex medical diagnoses, can become a life-changing event for the entire family. As the health care system cares for the patients, we provide support to their family members.”

The website was donated to the organization by Adamus Media, a New Jersey company, in appreciation of the help CrossBridge offered to the family of Adamus’ CEO earlier this year. “We wanted to thank CrossBridge for all they have done for my family as we were surprised with a premature arrival of my son while on business in Charleston ,” says company’s CEO, Sylwia Majewski. “My two day business trip to Charleston turned into a five week stay.  Three of those weeks spent at MUSC.  CrossBridge was there for us and this is a way for my company and my family, including a healthy seven month old baby boy, to say thank you.”
