Sept. 12, 2010 - PRLog -- Seth Maxwell, President of The Thirst Project, has a unique way to celebrate the start of the new school year: The Thirst Project has enlisted the help of several young Hollywood stars to reach their fan base through Twitter and Facebook to raise funds for water wells in Swaziland, South Africa.

Annalynne McCord (90210), Heather Morris (Glee), Naya Rivera (Glee), Harry Shum Jr. (Glee) and Rachel Fox (Desperate Housewives) enthusiastically signed up to tweet and encourage young people to donate.  The stars will compete with each other to raise the most funds for the charity.  They will also encourage each fan to raise funds on their own for The Thirst Project as well. The individual fan who raises the most for the charity will win a trip to Los Angeles and meet with the celebrity of their choice. The stars will message on Twitter and Facebook for six weeks. The charity hopes to raise $200,000 to fund over 15 wells in Swaziland for 2011.  “We are very grateful that Annalynne, Heather, Naya, Harry and Rachel are doing this for the communities needing water in Swaziland. Aside from raising money, raising awareness is essential to make a difference” said Seth Maxwell. The contest ends October 15.  The FB page is http://www.facebook.com/ThirstProject and the project & celebrity twitter names are:

About The Thirst Project: Over 1.1 Billion people do not have access to safe, clean drinking water and proper sanitization. The Thirst Project is a non-profit organization focused on raising awareness of and bringing solutions to the clean water crisis through Education Outreach Programs, which serve to educate, equip, and empower communities in need of water by drilling wells. By helping the communities’ access water, The Thirst Project changes the very basic fabric of these communities: decreasing illness, increasing education, extending life expectancy.
