September 9th - Canyon Lake Hills has joined the Coalition for Equitable Water Rates. With 1300 residents in their community, they would represent the largest community in the Coalition and will be a big benefit in the signature drive. This brings the number of POA's represented by the CEWR to over 23, with a total number of CLWSC customers exceeding 4000. With word received that the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) had rejected the notification sent by CLWSC to its customers concerning a proposed 71% rate hike. It is expected that this rejection will require revision and full redistribution of the original notification. The CEWR was advised that its petition (in its present form) will be accepted by TCEQ, despite a pending revision of CLWSC’s August 27th notification. The Coalition is set to proceed with obtaining those signatures, as the petition format remains consistent with the water rate filing document of August 27, 2010. It is likely that CLWSC will have to delay implementation of their proposed increases as new customer notification letters await distribution. # # # The Coalition for Equitable Water Rates (CEWR) is a non-profit organization of local residents representing residential and business interests to insure that fair and competitive water rates are provided by the Canyon Lake Water Service Company.
