Follow on Google News | TCEQ Identifies Errors In CLWSC Water Rate Notification To CustomersTexas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has found errors in the notification sent by CLWSC to its customers concerning a proposed 71% rate hike.
September 9th – The CEWR received feedback that the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) had rejected the notification sent by CLWSC to its customers concerning a proposed 71% rate hike. It is expected that this rejection will require revision and full redistribution of the original notification. A contact at TCEQ Administrative Audit, indicated that they had been assigned to conduct the administrative review of the Canyon Lake Water Service Company rate filing. It was also pointed out that there will be a complete technical review of the filing. The CEWR was advised that its petition (in its present form) will be accepted by TCEQ, despite a pending revision of CLWSC’s August 27th notification. The Coalition is set to proceed with obtaining those signatures, as the petition format remains consistent with the water rate filing document of August 27, 2010. It is possible that CLWSC will have to delay implementation of their proposed increases if new customer notification letters are required. # # # The Coalition for Equitable Water Rates (CEWR) is a non-profit organization of local residents representing residential and business interests to insure that fair and competitive water rates are provided by the Canyon Lake Water Service Company (CLWSC). The CEWR serves by challenging excessive water rates by petitioning the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) and through direct negotiation with the management of the CLWSC. The CEWR is comprised of local residents concerned about fair and impartial management of local water utility rates (specifically to customers of CLWSC). The CEWR was formed expressly to challenge the proposed rate hike. Presently, CEWR has participation from more than 23 local Property Owners’ Associations / Communities totaling approximately 4000 CLWSC customers. The CEWR is comprised of board members and residents of the participating Property Owners’ Associations, as well as representatives of local business interests. End
