Marwah Studios Multimedia Team With QBR CWG At Goa

Multimedia Team of Marwah Studios is moving with the Queen's Baton Relay for full time coverage and is the only official team.

Sept. 9, 2010 - PRLog -- PANAJI: The Queen’s Baton 2010 Delhi’s exciting journey across India continued on Tuesday when it crisscrossed Goa along with multimedia team of Marwah Studios and received a tremendous welcome across the State.

Governor Mr. Shivinder Singh Sidhu, Chief Minister Mr. Digambad Kamath, Minister of Sport Mr. Manohar Asgaonkar and football heroes like goalkeeper Brahamanand Sankhwalkar and Portunan Franco along with Goa Olympic Association President Subhash Shirodkar were among those who led the celebrations sparked off by the arrival of the baton.

On arrival at the Karnataka-Goa border, the Goa Olympic Association, Mr Asgaonkar and Goa’s first Arjuna Award winning footballer Brahamanand Sankhwalkar received the baton. Local dancers performed ghodi mandi and Konkan dances.

The baton stopped for functions at various locations including Poinguinin, Mallikarjun High School (Padibarchem), Suncolim Muncipal Council, Chinchini, Navelim and Margao. School children, local sports clubs and local musicians welcomed the baton at each location. At Navelim, Churchill Brothers Football Club players were present, Franco receiving the baton in Margao.

On arrival at Rabindra Bhawan, Chief Minister Mr. Kamath and members of his cabinet spoke glowingly and a cultural programme was performed.  After lunch, the baton stopped at Raia Panchayat followed by Shirora, Parmavedi (Shivaji Statue), Mangeshi Temple and Old Goa. A relay was held in Old Goa concluding at the Old Goa jetty from where the baton was taken on board a ferry called Santa Monica to Panjim.

Treated to a live band and traditional Goan dances on the ferry, the baton reached Panjim for a function at the Dinanath Mangeshkar Kala Mandir where Governor Mr. Sidhu released a special postal cover to commemorate the visit of the Queen’s Baton 2010 Delhi to Goa.

 The postal cover depicts Goa's rich heritage, projecting five iconic players from the gold medal winning Indian hockey team at 1948 London Olympics – Leo Pinto, Walter d’Souza, Lawry Fernandes, Maxy Vaz and Reggie Rodrigues. “So far everything is moving as per schedule and proper recordings have been done to create history out of it.” said Sandeep Marwah President of Marwah Studios who is keeping track on multimedia team from Noida Film City.
