Sept. 8, 2010 - PRLog -- FT. WORTH, TX  – The Vintage Flying Museum in Fort Worth will be celebrating the 75th Anniversary of the World War II B-17 Flying Fortress airplane when the hanger doors open for its  20th Annual Big Band Hangar Dance on October 2, 2010.

This event is the major fund raiser for the museum, a non-profit 501 (c) 3 corporation, which houses more than 20 vintage airplanes including the B-17 “Chuckie” one of the few remaining B-17’s in the world that is capable of being flown. The first B-17 was made by Boeing in 1935.

Swing dance enthusiasts, airplane enthusiasts, history buffs and veterans can be expected to turn out for this event to enjoy the big band sounds of the Alan Glasscock 16- piece orchestra and a nostalgic evening of swing dancing. Because the dance takes place in an authentic WWII B-29 hangar in front of an actual B-17 Flying Fortress, guests often dress up in 1940’s military or civilian attire. This is optional, not required.

Dinner will be served from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m., with dancing from 8 – midnight. The event is BYOB with soft drinks and snacks available for purchase. Dance only tickets are $30 in advance, $35 at the door. Barbecue dinner is $15. Reserve tables are available with the purchase of ten tickets. Corporate tables are also available.

Tours through the museum’s B-17 as well as DC-3 flight over the city of Ft. Worth Tickets are available. Call 817-624-1935 for information and ticket sales. Tickets are also available through the museum Web site by logging onto www.vintageflyingmuseum.org. The museum is located at 505 N.W. 38th Street, Hangar 33 South, Fort Worth, TX 76106.
