By: Web World Talent

Sept. 8, 2010 - PRLog -- Salt Lake City - Web World Talent, a Stockton California based talent search contest will be hosting auditions at the South Towne Expo Center on Saturday, September 18th 2010. The decision to host the Salt Lake City, Utah event was made based on the number and quality of contestants that turned out for their big shot at American Idol in July of 2008.

Contest founder Leona Marino stated in a recent interview, “It’s no secret that Utah is running over with undiscovered talent. It’s our intent to bring that talent to the forefront and give as many vocal artists as possible an opportunity to finally be discovered.”
Marino pointed out Idol that contestants Megan Joy, David Archuletta, Carmen Rasmusen, Justin Williams, Maddie Penrose have all hailed from Utah, but also added, “We believe Utah has far more to offer than the 5 American Idol contestants that we’ve already seen. And we hope to see them at our event in September. We would love to see all of those who tried out for American Idol but were denied their shot.”

Similar to American Idol, Web World Talent seeks to discover the up and coming vocal talent from across the United States. But instead of holding auditions in a limited number of major U.S. cities, Web World Talent will be holding auditions in at least one city in each of the 50 states. Eventually they seek to move into Canada and beyond.

According to Web World Talent Founder Marino, “The downside of American Idol is that they only hold auditions in a limited number of cities nationwide. If you don’t live close by you have to pay for travel, lodging, and other expenses. For a lot of American Idol hopefuls it’s just too cost prohibitive. With Web World Talent, we’re committed to provide a real opportunity to be discovered at a fraction of the expense. Not only are we taking the opportunity directly to the people, we’re incorporating the internet as well which makes Web World Talent accessible to anyone, anywhere, at any time as long as they have an internet connection.”

Web World Talent Contestants will have an opportunity to showcase their singing talent with a fully equipped vocal studio. During each audition a music video will be shot, edited, and possibly uploaded to the Web World Talent web-site. Judging is to be done by the general public very much the same as American Idol.

For your entertainment there will be an exclusive LIVE performance by American Idol Top 60 contestant and featured Hollywood hopeful Justin Williams. Recently Justin was signed to LA based indie label Tri-Mind Entertainment and is set to release his new single “Fly” on November 9th. Don’t miss your opportunity to meet Justin in person!

First prize for the contest will be $25,000 and a one time record contract. The charge to enter the contest is $20 for contestants and $5 for spectators ($3.00 for students) and can be paid in cash, or money order at the time of the even or online by credit or debit card at www.webworldtalent.com/terms

Doors open at 8:00am and registration will begin at 9:00am.

“Of course we’re not as big as American Idol, but we can provide opportunities that some of these singers might never have had otherwise.” Marino said. “And being a family friendly organization, we think the citizens of Utah are a perfect fit for the image we hope to portray to our fans. We just hope that people catch our vision and see the real opportunity that we are bringing them.
