“BuildMonth represents an ideal opportunity for our professionals to roll up their sleeves and help make a difference in the communities in which they live and work,” said Chris Kirk, Global Director of Human Resources, CB Richard Ellis. “From New York to San Diego and numerous cities in between, CBRE will continue to support those in need with the same respect, integrity, service and excellence we deliver to our clients every day.”
Throughout the month, the CBRE volunteers will help renovate and refurbish private homes, homeless shelters and other facilities in partnership with CBRE Cares Shelter Program charitable partners Rebuilding Together and HomeAid, as well as Habitat for Humanity. Rebuilding Together and HomeAid are leaders in working to preserve and revitalize affordable homeownership and build and maintain dignified housing for the homeless, respectively. This collaborative effort is designed to improve the housing options for low-income communities across the country.
CBRE professionals from offices across California, Colorado, Washington, D.C., Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Tennessee, Texas and Washington will take part in BuildMonth 2010. The Company will provide employees with paid time off for their participation in these projects.
As a prelude to BuildMonth, in May, CB Richard Ellis professionals and clients attending the Company’s 2010 Industrial Conference in New Orleans helped refurbish 10 houses and a homeless shelter that were damaged by 2005’s Hurricane Katrina. Following BuildMonth, in October, attendees of CBRE’s Women’s Networking Forum in Chicago and local CBRE offices will participate in rebuilding projects at a transitional women’s housing facility and an elementary school. In November, CBRE professionals from across the U.S. will take part in a large-scale BuildDay project in Los Angeles alongside local CBRE offices as part of the Company’s inaugural Office Conference.
CBRE Cares is governed and executed by the CB Richard Ellis Foundation, an independent, non-profit, public-benefit corporation that funds CB Richard Ellis’ philanthropic initiatives. To learn more about CBRE Cares and the Shelter Program, please visit http://cbre.com/
