Follow on Google News | G3 ski-brake return program makes it easier to sell Onyx, Ruby alpine-touring bindingsFirst-of-its-kind program removes worry for retailers of ending up with leftover stock at end of ski season.
By: Dave Simpson In another first-of-its- The program works by allowing retailers to either pre-season or in-season order as many extra ski brakes, in as many different widths, as they think they need. At the end of the season, retailers can return any unused brakes in their original packaging for full credit, a program no other alpine-touring binding manufacturer offers. “This program makes it easy for G3 retailers to be able to match the correct width brakes to whatever ski they are selling, and not have to worry about ending up with extra ski-brake inventory that they paid for at the end of the season,” said Scott Duer, G3’s global sales manager. “And that makes life easier for everyone involved.” The ski-brake replacement program follows recent news that G3 would become the first alpine-touring/ The Onyx and Ruby are tech-style alpine-touring bindings with high-performance retention, dramatically reduced pre-release, and industry-leading releasability functions. They also offer the ability to switch from ski to tour mode without taking skis off. In addition, the fact that the Onyx and Ruby employ a mounting plate means that customers can buy additional mounting plates and switch their bindings between different skis with the turn of a couple of screws. For the coming fall season, G3 re-engineered and upgraded several components of the Onyx, including; increasing all release settings to 12; redesigning the brakes so they retract more fully; making the heel lifters more secure; and modifying the toe bale so it more effectively sheds snow. The Ruby is a women’s-specific version of the Onyx that is new this season. Onyx and Ruby ski brakes come in widths of 130, 110, 95 and 85 millimeters.
