Private Prep & The Children’s Storefront Introduce a Groundbreaking New Rewards Program

Sept. 8, 2010 - PRLog -- NEW YORK, N.Y. – (September 8, 2010) Private Prep, the distinctive tutoring service offering individually customized lessons for a wide range of K-12 subjects and standardized test prep in New York City, Westchester and Connecticut, is introducing a revolutionary new rewards program along with their newly forged relationship with The Children’s Storefront, an independent school located in Harlem, NY, which is accredited by the New York State Association of Independent Schools (www.thechildrensstorefront.org).

This groundbreaking rewards program is truly the first of its kind in the field of tutoring and education support. As parents pay for tutoring sessions for their children with Private Prep, credits will be accrued in an account. These credits can then either be used to purchase future sessions for their own child or, for the first time, the parent may choose to donate their credits toward free tutoring for students who are less fortunate and have less access to the premium services that Private Prep provides. The students selected to receive the free tutoring sessions will be chosen through a new collaboration with The Children’s Storefront.  The intended result is for Private Prep to provide one-on-one tutoring sessions for multiple students each week at The Children’s Storefront.

The Children’s Storefront is an independent, tuition-free school in Harlem committed to providing a comprehensive education to children with varied academic strengths from preschool through 8th grade. The Children’s Storefront serves a Harlem community that is problem-ridden on a number of fronts. The median income is $16,600 and 23 percent of the population is on public assistance. District 11 has the highest concentration of shelters and facilities for drug and alcohol treatment in any community in the Borough of Manhattan. Students from the surrounding neighborhood are admitted to The Children’s Storefront based on a lottery system and receive access to educational opportunities that otherwise would be difficult to obtain.  

Private Prep designed and developed their rewards program as a reflection of their strong belief in giving back to the community and offering their academic expertise to support students of all socio-economic backgrounds. As such, they are offering the parents of the families and students they serve the chance to support others who are of lesser means to access the same educational support they are giving their own children by simply getting credit for each session they purchase. As a result of making this extraordinary donation, parents can make a difference in their child’s and another child’s educational experience and life at the same time.
