Feb. 2, 2011 - PRLog -- The purpose of Legislative Day is to educate women business owners on opportunities to do business with local government and to provide them with tools for becoming certified to do business with the government.

This year’s panel will include local legislative representatives at the City and County levels.  Invited panelists include:  San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors Chairperson, Josie Gonzales; Riverside County Board of Supervisors Chairperson, Marion Ashley; Mayor of Ontario, Paul Leon; Mayor of Fontana, Acquanetta Warren; and Councilperson, City of Corona, Karen Spiegel.  In addition to the elected representatives, NAWBO-IE has invited CHARO Community Development Corporation/Minority Business Enterprise Center-Inland Empire to discuss women business owner certification programs at the local, county, state and federal levels.

NAWBO has a credible reputation for lobbying on behalf of women business owners and will provide an update on its testimony before the Chairperson of the State Legislature’s Small Business Committee, Senator Curren Price, discussing Universal Certification for women and minority business owners.

“We believe it’s important to engage lawmakers and discuss the hard-hitting issues that impact women business owners every day,” said Tina Loza, NAWBO-IE President. This year’s NAWBO-IE legislative day seeks to expose women business owners to opportunities for profit through diversifying income streams by doing business with the government.

The IE Chapter’s legislative day will provide a wealth of information for business owners and all women business owners are invited to attend.  For more information or to register, visit the NAWBO-IE website site at www.nawbo-ie.org.
