The Flagship Vehicle is Introduced for the 2011 Year - 2011 Hyundai Equus

All-New Equus Raises a New Platform of Intelligent Luxury for Hyundai

Sept. 7, 2010 - PRLog -- Hyundai has risen to the occasion and introduced a super-luxury car with the best-of-the-best amenities, performance, advanced technologies, design and ownership experience.
The introduction of this vehicle broadens the Hyundai lineup of premium vehicles.

After the success of the Genesis sedan, Hyundai decided to move up another level creating the 2011 Hyundai Equus. Hyundai decided if American’s were able to embrace the high price tag on the Genesis, then what is stopping them from embracing another pure luxury, high-priced vehicle?

“Equus takes Hyundai’s formula for intelligent luxury to a new level,” said John Krafcik, president and CEO, Hyundai Motor America. “We’ve applied the lessons in engineering excellence we’ve learned with Genesis to the Equus, while adding a new level of customer experience that will further differentiate our take on luxury from the traditional premium brands.”

The Equus is much more than just a car. The Equus is built on Hyundai’s world-class rear-wheel-drive architecture and is powered by the award-winning 4.6-liter Tau® V8. The Tau will produce an estimated 385 horsepower using premium fuel and 379 horsepower using regular fuel.

According to the Boston Globe, Krafcik said, “The luxury sedan has a longer wheelbase than the Lexus LS 460, is reminiscent of a previous generation Mercedes S-Class in its design, and comes packed with an amazing litany of features.”

The Hyundai Equus will be launched in the late 2010 summer and with it will come a nice option, an Apple iPad lieu of an owner’s manual. Hyundai announced at the New York Auto Show that the 2011 Equus will come with a multimedia tablet instead of a traditional owner’s manual. Hyundai has confirmed that the Apple iPad is the all-new Hyundai Equus owner’s manual.

Other features of the Equus include:

Lane departure warning system
Electronic air suspension
Smart cruise control
Heated, cooled and (optional) massage seats for the driver
Reclining rear heated and cooled seats with footrest
High intensity discharge Xenon headlights with adaptive lighting
Rear and optional front-view cameras to help in parking and pulling out in blind spots
A 608-watt, 17 speaker, 13 channel Lexicon® audio system
Soft-grain leather seating

Nine airbags include advanced dual front airbags, front and rear seat-mounted side-impact airbags, roof-mounted side curtain airbags for both front and rear outboard seat occupants and driver’s knee airbags.

“About the only non-luxury item on the Equus is its six-speed automatic transmission, according to the Boston Globe.

Hyundai is committed to its consumers offering unexpected luxury amenities and a high level of attention and personalized service.

All Hyundai vehicles sold in the U.S. are covered by the Hyundai Assurance program which now includes the 5-year/60,000 mile fully transferable bumper-to-bumper warranty. Hyundai’s 10-year/100,000 mile power train warranty and 5-year complimentary Roadside Assistance in addition to the highly acclaimed vehicle return policy introduced in early 2009.
