Sometimes the best solution is simply to call your local carpet cleaner. Steam cleaning or hot water extraction is the method most commonly used by professional carpet cleaners.

Sept. 7, 2010 - PRLog -- Once you have decided that you will hire professional carpet cleaner, the question that pops up in your mind is: how much it is going to cost? To be very honest, there’s no fixed amount for carpet cleaning and it may vary depending on nature of carpet size and stain. Yes, carpet cleaners may give you a rough estimate on phone but may need to check the carpet in person to give precise rates. There are generally two ways to fix carpet cleaning service rates: per room rates or per square foot rates. Let’s go through them one by one:

Per Room Rates: Such rates are designed to make people easily understand rates of cleaning service on the phone. This makes pricing pretty easier and service providers need not send a technician out to measure your rooms. As per observation, per room rates are as low as USD 20 to USD 25. But it’s strongly recommended that one should not avail carpet cleaning services mere on basis of low prices. Smart customers never fall for such ‘low-price-offers’. Yes, carpet cleaner can offer low rates but it’s unlikely to benefit the customer. Carpets of maximum size and larger rooms are charged as two rooms. An average rate is calculated and an acceptable net rate is finalized.

Per Square Foot Rates: Such rates are designed in order to enable companies to fix each job price more closely to the true value of the service. This in fact reduces burden on customers. In case you have smaller areas for cleaning, you will also need to shell out small sum. From the company’s prospective, it enables them to earmark required margins on each job. But they require paying a trip to your in person and then giving a precise quote.

On the lines of per room rates, rates per sq foot rates may vary depending on size of the job. Smaller jobs may cost you more, while larger jobs may be charged a lower rate. This basically happens due to costs of travel and setting up of equipment.
Average Net Rate: Such rates are generally quoted by established and reputed cleaning service providers. The average net rate includes all cleaning costs such as cleaning solutions, materials and labour.

Generally, you receive what you pay for just as with other purchasing. And the customers should be highly alert. It’s strongly recommended to do your homework on carpet cleaning industry. Little bit of research will do. Compare companies and their offerings.

When you are going to hire professional carpet cleaners, keep following things in mind:

Keep a note of additional/hidden charges: Some times companies charge you for fuel, disposal of waste, use of spotting solutions and environmental fees. Customers are not informed about this in advance. And at the end, customers are compelled to shell out relatively larger sum than committed. Beware of such additional or hidden charges.

Low Quotes: Yes, it’s fair enough to find an affordable carpet cleaner. But it doesn’t mean you compromise with quality. Some companies offer low rates or massive discount offers. Just countercheck them. Having said that, it doesn’t mean low bidders are not up to the mark. Cleaners may cut down costs or just for sake or promotion they may bid low. So, it’s up to you make the deal.
