Sept. 6, 2010 - PRLog -- A distinguished group of 10 Apostles, from around the globe, will visit the historic site at Santo on September 12th 2010, to once again declare a prophetic proclamation over Vanuatu.

On the 14th-16th September seventy Apostles, well known senior global church leaders, will visit Vanuatu, voted the Happiest Country on Earth in 2006 and again in 2010, for a Global Apostolic Summit.

During the public night meetings, at the Seafront Stage on the 14th, 15th and 16th September, at 6.30 p.m., the local Ni-Vanuatu people will be able to meet the Apostles and hear what they have to say concerning Vanuatu, a nation that is rapidly rising on the global stage, having just successfully hosted the Pacific Islands Forum.

The Apostles believe that Vanuatu will lead a Christian revival that will influence Australia and New Zealand and the other Pacific Island Nations.

The Global Apostolic Network gathers for their annual conference, where they seek inspiration for what God is saying to the nations. The group for the first time, has felt led to meet in a Developing Nation.

The Apostles represent nations as diverse as the United States, Ghana, Central America, Australia, Central America (Honduras, African American, New Zealand, Australian Aboriginal & Islanders El Salvador and Mexico), India and Russia.

Captain Pedro Fernadex de Quiros, the Portuguese navigator, named the land he was standing on as the Great Southland of the Holy Spirit, on the 14th May 1606.

He had hoped to discover the great southern continent (Australia). Captain Pedro Fernadex de Quiros had instead landed on the large island, of what was then recognized as the New Hebrides, (Vanuatu). He named it La Australia del Espiritu Santo. His aim was to found a colony, to be called Nova Jerusalem.

He made an effort to found a new Order of Chivalry, the Knights of the Holy Ghost, designed to protect the new colony. However, due to the animosity of the Ni-Vanuatu people, plus disagreements among his own crew, the Portuguese navigator was forced to abandon his dream.

The island Quiros landed on kept the name Espiritu Santo and is the largest island of the 80 tropical island archipelago of Vanuatu, situated in the North West corner of the South Pacific.

Hundreds of people assembled to memorialize the declaration, made 400 years before in May 2006. Kalkot Mataskelekele, the president of Vanuatu, spoke of reconciliation, repentance, forgiveness and renewal.

Both European and Spanish representatives were overjoyed to receive an exchange of gifts to commemorate the occasion, as a sign of reconciliation and cleansing of the land. The ceremony was performed by the Matantas Chief.

A bust of Pedro Fernandez de Quiros now marks the spot.

Vanuatu has just celebrated its 30th year of independence, a year nominated in biblical terms as ‘Maturity’.
