Sept. 6, 2010 - PRLog -- A hog roast and ‘liquid refreshments’ at the ninth hole helped boost morale – and the total raised for charity - at Toft Golf Club’s Captains Day.

Hosted by the club’s Stuart Parker, around 100 members and invited guests tee-ed off for the annual event, this year in aid of Stuart’s chosen charity the NSPCC.

The Captain’s Day, at the course near Bourne, included a competition around the 18 hole course, followed by presentations and a charity auction – with the star lot a signed photo of the 2006 Ryder Cup winning team.

The day raised a total of £1,180, money which Stuart has donated to the NSPCC via the charity’s Peterborough Business Support Group. The group’s money spinning efforts help fund projects which support vulnerable youngsters in the Greater Peterborough area, including Bourne and Stamford.

Stuart presented a cheque to Group committee member Chris Quinn. He said: “I am delighted to receive this cheque from Stuart. It’s very kind of him to have chosen the NSPCC as his nominated charity for the year and this is a wonderful amount of money to have raised for the cause.

“It was obvious he put a lot of effort into organising the event and the hog roast half way round was a great way to keep everyone going right to the 18th hole!”
