Android's Best messaging App – 'Handcent'

It is free available via the Android market and allows users to select different conversation styles, change font type and size, add the quick reply ability, blacklist a contact, customize the way SMS is displayed, search SMS and attach pictures or multimedia files to the text message.

The app integrates with your phone's camera and image-view system to attach a photo (just-taken or in memory) to a message. Once you've attached it, the image shows up as a thumbnail in a new bubble in your conversation stream.

Overall Handcent is found easy to use, and we'd recommend it for any heavy messager who feels inhibited by Android's baked-in messaging system. Its plethora of customization options has enabled Handcent to emerge as a must-have app. The app is free and available from the Android App Market. It's ad-supported, but the only ads you'll ever see are at the bottom of the Settings page--so you can use the app on a daily basis and rarely be distracted by an ad.
