Sept. 4, 2010 - PRLog -- Delilah Noir announced today The Cut 16" fashion doll pattern contest winners.

Delilah Noir's The Cut Contest recognizes the fashion sense and creativity of top doll fashion designers around the country.  The Cut asked contestants to design a doll pattern for a 16 inch fashion doll similar to Delilah Noir from Ashton Drake Galleries.  Entries from July 13 to Aug 15th were accepted and were to include original clothing pattern and either a sketch OR photograph of the finished piece.  http://www.delilahnoir.com/Articles.asp?ID=236

The Top Designer and overall winner was Durelle B. with Cha-Cha-Chow Mein pattern design.  The judges went stir-fry crazy over this Kimono-style dress and "takie-outie" purse. The lace ruffle on the dress and striped leggings made it easy to envision Delilah slipping into this outfit when she wants to mix things up a bit. Check out the chopstick'd hairstyle too! Durelle will receive $250 and a Delilah Noir Mannequin Doll!

Second place went to Master Designer:  Diana L. with Modern Elegance.  This Chanel-inspired outfit caught the judges' attention not just because it's a cute look, but the coordination of the different pieces that went into its creation. The necklace has a bow for a hint of pizzazz, and the leather and chain purse strap gives the purse extra pop. The simple bow headband literally tops off this updated classic. Diana will receive $100 and a Delilah Noir Mannequin Doll!

Third place went to Design Specialist: Randal K. with Summertime.  What's not to like about this outfit? The colors, the hat, the sandals, the removable petticoat? This dress is fresh and fun, not just because of the colors (although that helps). The coordinating petticoat allows your doll to mix it up in a snap--just like Delilah. The coordinating hat and shoes are the perfect extras to make this outfit customizable. Randal will receive $50 and a Delilah Noir Mannequin Doll!

And the honorable mentions were Hannah C. with Feathered Dream and Jeanette C. with Earth, Water, Air Ensemble.

What is a 16” fashion doll?
16” fashion dolls are unique in that they are “interactive collectibles,” meaning that they are intended for adult collectors, yet many love to change their outfits, wigs, even eyes to create a custom doll. They primarily reflect current fashion trends. Some fashion doll collectors are also accomplished seamstresses who create their own fashions for their dolls. Other collectors repaint their dolls’ faces so that they have a truly one-of-a-kind doll. Due to the artistic license these dolls give their owners, they are very popular in the art and fashion communities; many times the dolls serve as mini mannequins or canvasses for their work. Others simply take pleasure in redoing their dolls because they enjoy the design process. These dolls stand at 16 inches tall and are usually made out of vinyl. They are commonly ball-jointed, so the joints consist of a ball and socket that move smoothly. This makes the dolls very flexible and poseable. Many hobby and professional photographers enjoy working with ball-jointed dolls for photo shoots because they have such fun trying unique poses in a variety of settings. It is also much easier to carry around doll outfits than human clothes!

Fashion doll maker, Ashton Drake Galleries, offers affordable customizable limited edition Delilah Noir vinyl ball jointed dolls that are 16 inch and 1/4 scale articulated poseable collectible BJDs; Lolita, Gothic, Victorian, Vampire, Punk, Rock, lifelike beautiful quality figures with changeable clothes, eyes and wigs on sale at our online doll store for a great value price, starting at $89.99.
