Bulloch Mom’s Club Helps Mom’s Have Fun and Relax during Stressful Times

Sept. 3, 2010 - PRLog -- We hope to arrange at least one activity per week, plus shared babysitting on weekends. Some events are just for moms, others for kids and family, and some for couples only. It's so much easier to get out with our significant other when it’s not breaking the bank and there is a fun activity to look forward to. Getting together with like-minded individuals with similar experiences is good for moral support and social dynamics....Anyone interested in dressing up their husband in a cowboy hat and boots and learning the 2-step this weekend? Each member helps decide which activities are written into the calendar each month. Our website’s anonymous member-poll verifies which ideas are most popular.

Having young kids puts added strain on individuals, relationships and often one’s social life. My family moved here four years ago and we love Bulloch County. However, having young kids, work, and household demands has made it difficult to reach out and meet other like-minded people.

Social websites are growing in popularity and are good for chatting online. However, face-to-face relationships are proven to create healthier and happier people. Human beings are social animals; they mature over a long period within a couple, small groups, and other group contexts. Thus, it is not surprising that a growing body of evidence suggests that people are healthier and happier when they experience social belonging. Conversely, exclusion and social isolation are perceived as painful and are associated with a variety of negative affective experiences including anxiety, depression, anger, and shame (MacDonald & Leary, 2005).
