Unterpremstaetten, Austria (Date, 2010) – austriamicrosystems (SIX: AMS), a leading global designer and manufacturer of high-performance analog ICs, has announced that Nordic ID’s new multifunctional handheld computer -- called the Morphic -- utilizes austriamicrosystems’
The AS3991 UHF reader chip is an integrated analog front-end and data framing system for a 900MHz RFID reader system. Built-in programming options make it suitable for a wide range of applications in UHF RFID systems. Designed to simplify the design and implementation of an EPC Class1 Gen2 reader, the AS3991 requires only a standard 8-bit microcontroller with minimal other components.
“The excellent performance of the Morphic and the rapid time to market reflects a high degree of expertise,” said Bruce Ulrich Marketing Director, austriamicrosystems. “Market leaders like Nordic ID are choosing the AS399x series for their industry leading performance and low power consumption.”
According to Teemu Ainasoja, Solution Center Director, Nordic ID, “AMS’s technology enabled us to easily integrate UHF RFID functionality into our new Morphic handheld mobile computer. Despite all its functionality, the Morphic is the size of a smart phone and weighs just 6.4 oz.”
