Sept. 2, 2010 - PRLog -- Madison School students will have the opportunity to experience art in a new way thanks to a donation from Suburban Bank & Trust. This fall the school is scheduled to receive a custom designed picnic table commissioned by SBT that is currently on display in Elmhurst’s City Centre plaza as part of this year’s Cool Kiddie Art exposition.

Artist Deb Conroy, working with SBT, designed the table with the children of Madison School in mind. The top of the lime green table features triangles, stars, squares, and circles in primary colors and a large pink heart in the center. SBT President Blanche E. Hill added her handprints to the design as “wings” on either side of the heart and Madison School students further personalized the table by adding their own handprints to the table top and benches.

Commenting on the bank’s donation, Conroy said, “SBT has been one of ECAF's biggest supporters through the years. As an artist it has been a privilege to work with Blanche Hill on unique designs that each year have raised thousands of dollars for sick and disabled children in our community. SBT has allowed ECAF to help many children.”

In its eighth year, Cool Kiddie Art is a collaborative effort of the City of Elmhurst, Elmhurst City Centre, and Elmhurst Children’s Assistance Foundation (ECAF), who is the beneficiary of funds raised from the exhibition and sale of the artwork.

“We are pleased to support ECAF with our purchase and to make a donation of the table for the benefit of the students of Madison School. Sharing artwork is a personal passion of mine and I love that the students will be interacting with our donation on a regular basis,” said Mrs. Hill.

SBT first participated in Cool Kiddie Art in 2005 and has purchased a piece every year since. Currently, SBT’s tortoise (2007), “Write Your Own Story,” a whimsical piece also designed and painted by Conroy, sits outside of the bank’s Spring Road branch, and an “SBT-green” car is stationed at the entrance to the bank’s Butterfield Road office. A fire engine, the 2008 design, is currently on display at SBT’s Lake Street branch.
