iFind Systems Wandering Shepherd selected for IBM Smart Planet SmartCamp Silicon Valley

Sept. 2, 2010 - PRLog -- Edmonton, AB CANADA –  iFind Systems is developing the Wandering Shepherd “Smart Tagging” Ear Tag which provides real-time, full movement monitoring, traceability and authentication of livestock and wildlife by capturing and sending its GPS coordinates to our data center, automatically and securely.

Forests play a vital role in stabilizing the world’s climate by storing large amounts of carbon that would otherwise contribute to climate change. The Amazon rainforest is estimated to store somewhere between 80-120 billion tons of carbon. If destroyed, some fifty times the annual greenhouse gas emissions of the United States could be emitted.

Improving the traceability of beef and leather is significant because cattle ranching is the single largest driver of Amazon destruction: 80 percent of deforested land ends up as cattle pasture.
