Thanks to the ‘prank’ of the ‘cat woman’ a street in Coventry, a city in the county of West Midlands in England, has become instantly world famous.
The cat’s owner, Daryl Mann, heard Lola’s plaintive meowing from inside the bin, 15 hours later.
In the past some local ragamuffins would probably have been blamed for the incident. Mann would have been wild with rage at the treatment of his cat, but unable to find the anonymous idiot who committed this terrible insult to his pet.
After discovering footage of the incident on his own security cameras, Mann published the video on Facebook.
No one is saying whether it was the police, or some private individual, who identified Mary Bale, after hundreds of viewers watched the video. It does however prove once again the power of the Internet.
Police were compelled to station officers outside Bale’s house, as global cat lovers issued death threats against Bale on the Internet.
Bale is no longer smiling about the incident. “I did it as a joke because I thought it would be funny “said Bale while questioned by Daily Mail.
The warning is clear. Nowadays we live in a society where ‘everybody is watching everybody else’. The old saying ‘that which is whispered in the bedroom is spread abroad,’ has grown to be a stark reality.
