Sept. 1, 2010 - PRLog -- Softron Media Services Announces Immediate Availability of OnTheAir Video Express 1.1
Update allows use of DVI and HDMI output; provides compatibility with latest Mac mini

IBC (Booth 7.G14), Amsterdam, the Netherlands, September 2, 2010 – Softron Media Services today announced immediate availability of OnTheAir Video Express 1.1, one of its Macintosh based video play-out applications. OnTheAir Video Express 1.1 adds support for DVI / Mini DisplayPort output and the HDMI port of Apple's latest Mac mini making it the ideal companion for users requiring cost effective live output or for digital signage applications. It can also be used with any of the Intel based MacBook laptops.

OnTheAir Video Express supports output of both standard definition (SD) and high definition (HD) playback. It has a user-friendly interface and can play out any file that QuickTime can read, including stills and audio only clips. With an appropriate video card (see compatibility list on our website www.softron.tv), OnTheAir Video Express can play out QuickTime movies with embedded alpha channels (ARGB) for keying over live video. Files exported from Motion or After Effects can be overlaid in real-time over an incoming feed, making OnTheAir Video Express a key graphics component of any live presentation or broadcast. Playlists created for OnTheAir Video, OnTheAir Video Express' “Big Brother”, which is used extensively in scheduled broadcast environments, are fully compatible and can be played out using OnTheAir Video Express 1.1.

“This is a very exciting update and one that lots of people interested in outputting professional video in non on-air broadcast environments have been asking about for quite some time,” said Mike Skibra, Softron's Business Development Manager. “The reason is simple: rather than having to use a much larger system, (like MacPro or Xserve) users can output the same quality video using their MacBooks or the latest Mac mini. The HDMI connection on the new Mac mini allows for the most cost effective professional video play-out system imaginable. Many of our prospective customers have been keen to have a robust and effective solution that can be used in conjunction with HDMI equipped video projectors for corporate, faith-based and commercial use. Today, Softron has a solution for them!”

Priced at USD 1095 (695 EUR), OnTheAir Video Express is immediately available from Softron Media Services' network of authorized resellers or via the Softron Media Services Online Store. Fully functional demonstration copies are downloadable from the Softron Media Services website as well. Owners of the current versions of OnTheAir Video Express can upgrade to the latest version at no charge.
