Madison non-profit, Capital K9s, hosts Dog Paddle to benefit the Madison Police Department K9 Unit

Each year Capital K9s hosts a canine only swim event to raise money for the Madison Police Department K9 Unit. This year the event is being held on Sept. 12 from 10am until 4pm at the Goodman Pool on Olin Avenue in Madison.

Sept. 1, 2010 - PRLog -- (Madison, Wis.) Please join us Sunday, Sept. 12, 2010 at Goodman Pool on Olin Avenue for the Fourth Annual Capital K9’s Dog Paddle. For this event Goodman Pool closes to the public and for one amazing day will be open only to our canine friends. Watch as dogs vie for farthest jump, fastest retrieve, and biggest splash. There will be additional contests, prizes, and more. All proceeds from this unique event will benefit the Madison Police Department’s K9 Unit, which means a safer community for all of us.

We are still in need of volunteers and sponsors. For information on how to get involved please contact event coordinator Dan McIlroy at dmcilroy@proadspec.com or via phone (608) 839-3664 (work) or 837-0880 (home).

Previous years have seen over 1000 canines so please fill out a registration form in advance to prevent long wait times. Also, please review the rules and guidelines so that everyone is sure to have a safe and fun filled day.  Both can be found on our website.

It is very important to note for the safety and security of all participants, we have a ZERO AGGRESSION POLICY. Any dogs that engage in aggressive behavior will be asked to leave immediately. Also, for health & safety reasons, people are asked not go in the water further than ankle deep due to reduced chlorine levels.

Formed in 2004, Capital K9s is a non-profit organization that supports the Madison Police Department K9 Unit through fundraising efforts and is comprised of area volunteers.  A patrol canine unit increases departmental efficiency, while enhancing the safety of both officers and the community. For registration form, rules and guidelines or to learn more about Capital K9s and this event, please visit our website at http://www.capitalk9s.org
