Core Consultancy experience strong demand for SME focused Business Continuity Managed Service
DataSafe customers grow by 22% in last quarter, 100TB EMC storage added to off-site vaulting, performance improved by move to iomart datacenters and addition of new channel partners highlights business expansion
London, England – 1st September, 2010 – Core Consultancy, a leading disaster recovery and business continuity specialist, has announced its strongest quarter of growth with a 22% increase in customers prompting the firm to expand its offsite storage and switch to a more scalable datacenter environment with iomart.
“We primarily target SME customers in data critical environments such as professional and financial services through a network of around 11 regional partners,” explains Sharad Saggar, Managing Director of Core Consultancy Ltd, “We have seen particular interest from the legal sector, where we have picked up several prominent barrister chambers in recent months.”
Another trend Saggar observes are firms looking to cut costs by switching to managed services that are now considering remote data backup and recovery as a feasible alternative to employing expensive in-house staff, “DataSafe typically costs the equivalent of employing an IT person for around 3 days a month,” he explains, “and at a time when companies are looking at ways to cut costs and avoid hiring new staff, it makes a lot of financial sense and offers many benefits over a traditional in-house solution.”
To meet the surge in demand, Core has expanded its offsite data vault capacity by 100TB through the purchase of EMC CLARiiON CX4-120 which will replace the existing storage infrastructure in a high availability configuration at its new hosting partner iomart datacenters in London and Maidenhead.
“Our selection of EMC as our primary storage infrastructure moving forward is a significant decision,” comments Saggar, “With our customer base expanding at such a rapid rate, we needed a market leading technology supplier.
“Our old datacenter capacity was based on more modest expansion plans which we had projected based on the current economic climate,” explains Saggar, “but the last 6 months has seen higher than expected growth and we felt that partnering with an organisation such as iomart provides us with both the capacity, reliability and potential for value add services that will help to meet our longer term strategic goals.”

DataSafe, which recently helped Core Consultancy to win ‘Specialist Business Continuity and Disaster recovery Company of the Year’ at the Business Continuity Awards 2010 is sold exclusively through the channel. “We have also added several new channel partners in the last quarter and with several end user lead generation campaigns planned for this quarter, we felt that now was the perfect time to prepare our business for continued growth.” Saggar concludes.
DataSafe is a hybrid service that uses a local backup appliance and a remote datacenter network to store and recover critical data. The High Availability version supports Instant Virtualisation technology to allow clients to quickly gain remote access to recovered applications and data via the internet. Core DataSafe also offers a continuous data protection scheme which means clients can specify how often a backup should occur, from as little as every 15 minutes, to ensure that no critical data is lost in the event of a major incident such as an evacuation, fire or flood.
