ELAN® Conquers Space with New ELIOS™ EuroStyle Speakers Bringing Low-Profile Engineering

Sept. 1, 2010 - PRLog -- Atlanta, GA -- CEDIA Booth #1812  —  ELAN® Home Systems, a leading manufacturer of award-winning Multi-Room audio/video and home control systems, today announced the launch of ELIOS™ EuroStyle speakers, the company’s new half-depth in-ceiling, and low profile on-wall architectural speakers. The two new ELIOS speakers launch at CEDIA Expo this September as the brand’s first speakers specifically designed for Multiple Dwelling Units (MDUs), and limited space installations. The announcement was made by Paul Starkey, President.

Developed from the ground up in response to international Dealer and electronics systems Contractor requests, the ELIOS ES71C 7” In-Ceiling Speaker and the ES412 Dual 4” On-Wall Speaker were engineered to work well in reduced depth and space with simple installation, and unsurpassed fit, performance, sonic focus and long-term durability. Both speakers are among the industry’s first to address the burgeoning MDU construction market and the specific construction and installation requirements commonly found in Europe and the USA retrofit market.

The ELIOS ES71C 7” In-Ceiling Speaker finesses the physics of sound with several limited-space embellishments. ELAN engineers developed an all new mount and baffle for a working depth of only 2.56”, to fit in a quarter of the space available in normal USA installations, perfect for MDU’s, European construction and US retro installations. The new tooling supports a rugged seven inch woofer that is built to last and produces more bass at up to 50 Watts compared to the tiny 2.5” and 3” drivers currently being used by the competition. A pivoting tweeter lets the installer tune the system with pinpoint accuracy. Bringing these components together is a custom crossover, with each component carefully selected and evaluated for sonic performance and reliability. A steel baffle provides excellent sound isolation, preventing sound migration to rooms above through the ceiling.

The ELIOS ES412 Dual 4” On-Wall Speaker features two active 4.5" drivers and large magnet structure for precision performance that sounds great. The emphasis is on quality sound in a thin package that installs quickly based on the versatility of the speaker’s "wedge" shape and the mounting hardware provided. The sleek, yet rugged, ABS cabinet can mount directly to drywall and comes with brackets for a standard J-box or even a Euro style circular box. Speakers are available in White and Black with a choice of white, black & grey cloth options.

“With MDU and small-install opportunities growing across the country, our engineers went back to the drawing board to design speakers that out-performed and out-played similarly-sized speakers – and at half the depth.” said Mr. Starkey. “These solid performers install in minutes with a very pleasing frequency response that complements the ELIOS line for great acoustic balance throughout the installation.”

Unique to all ELIOS in-ceiling speakers is ELAN’s state-of-the-art drywall clamping system, which provides installers with the fastest, easiest, most reliable and trouble-free installation of any speakers on the market today. Made of virtually indestructible plastics, each “dog toggle” clamp rests atop its own “tower” which ensures a quick release every time. Additionally, the base of each clamping leg is considerably wider than traditional legs, providing increased surface area for a more secure fit against the inside of ceilings without causing the drywall to crumble.

The new ELIOS Speakers will be showcasing at the Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association (CEDIA) Expo September  23-26 at the ELAN Booth 1812 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. The ELIOS ES71C 7” In-Ceiling Speaker and ES412 Dual 4” On-Wall Speaker are targeted to begin shipping October 15, 2010. MSRPs are $350 per pair for the in-ceiling and $225 each for the on-wall either White (ES412W) or Black (ES412B). Designed for a lifetime of use, all ELIOS speakers come with a Limited Lifetime Warranty.
