The City of Merriam, KS, significantly reduced their energy consumption over the past year and won the Climate and Energy Project’s Take Charge Challenge - a year-long race between six Kansas communities to reduce their energy usage. The grand prize was a solar panel installation provided by The Energy Savings Store.
The crew at The Energy Savings Store recently installed a solar panel array for Merriam, KS, at their Historic Plaza and Visitors Bureau (see it at 6304 East Frontage Road in Merriam, KS - just outside Kansas City).
The winning 1,925 watt solar panel array consists of eleven 175 watt Andalay solar panels.
The electricity produced from solar power is converted to usable power using Enphase micro-inverters behind each panel. The solar panels are connected to the grid (grid-tied) and will provide about 200 kilowatt hours per month of electricity for the facility.
