By: Editor of Hope Magazine Online Jacob was born at 31 weeks on September 1, 2004. Jacob was diagnosed with Cerebral palsy, cortical visual impairment and a seizure disorder. Jacob’s Doctors told his parents that he would never show any signs of emotions due to the damage in his brain. Jacob will be 6 years old in September. He has grown into a beautiful blonde hair, blue eyed boy who has the ability to light up a room when he enters. He can laugh, smile and give much love. He continues to prove the Doctor’s wrong. He has made great progress with the help of alternative therapies; however, Jacob continues to require additional treatments to further his progress. The Journey Continues committee has come together to plan a wonderful event for Jacob. The committee is dedicated to ensure Jacob receives the highest quality of life…The committee has also partnered with the Shady Oaks Summer Camp for individuals with disabilities, located in Homer Glen, Il. This camp is the only parent run non for profit camp in the United States. The common goal for both of these causes is to continue to offer ways to better the lives of these individuals; For people with disabilities it is not always about finding a cure but improving quality of life to ensure that each human being can reach their fullest potential. Day to day tasks that the average joe takes for granted, such as walking or talking or even using the toilet. This benefit is not just for Jacob, it is also for Shady Oaks Camp. The last parent owned summer camp in the country. The people with disabilities that attend this camp deserve a safe place to enjoy time away just like other families. To swim, play and have fun. Honestly they need a new pool that is TOTALLY accessible and covered (maybe not indoors, but covered) I can't same more how important this benefit is so any donation no matter how great or small is deeply appreciated. Please help us get the word out. # # # Comprehensive site dedicated to Special Needs. Business and Service Provider Directory. Everyday families sharing stories of hope and determination. End
