Aug. 31, 2010 - PRLog -- As summer 2010 draws to a close, automobile manufacturers begin to offer more and more incentives to move current year models and make  room for 2011 newcomers.   Now is the time for prudent car shoppers  to start watching for savings, rebate deals and cash back offers that have not yet been available this year. Manufacturers traditionally time their “big sales events” to compete with each other and for public attention.  These price battles can be a car shopper’s gain if they time their purchase just right.

Now is also the time to determine which 2010 models are recommended and which should be avoided. Throughout the year various agencies and groups conduct reports, submit reviews and make comparisons between major makes and models.  By mid July most of the studies and research has concluded and results are tabulated.  It is simple for car shoppers to review these results on websites such as Edmonds.com or Motortrend.com  and learn which models have risen to the top in terms of quality, safety etc.

Once the shopper has identified the make and model of their choice they only need to wait
for the manufacturer to offer end of year pricing before opening negotiations with a dealership.  Year-end savings can be significant any time between August and December,
sometimes the better deals are offered earlier rather than later.   Often manufacturers will select only a few models to clear out and run the savings events for just a few days.  Or they may choose to run a more general campaign including many models for several months at a time.

As an example, car shoppers that have identified Ford models as their car of choice should consider making their move now. The Ford Motor Company is currently running their “ Final Days Model Year Sales Event” in which qualified buyers can get 0% down and a $1000 incentive for purchasing a Ford before September 7th, 2010.  The models included in this event are numerous and do include the 2010 Ford Mustang, Taurus and Focus, all of which received the highest rankings from J.D. Powers and Associates this year.  However the event does not include Ford hybrids, select crossovers and the popular Ford F-150. For these models the savvy shopper should wait for future sales events.

In the world of car shopping timing is everything. A properly timed auto purchase can mean a savings totaling thousands of dollars.  All that is required is some quick research and a
bit of patience.
