Some Girls Are Living an Upside-Down Life!

The Fifth Book in the ARISE Sprouts Pregnancy Prevention Series Will Help Young Girls Make Smarter Choices

Aug. 31, 2010 - PRLog -- North Palm Beach, FL – ARISE Foundation has released the fifth book in its ARISE teen pregnancy prevention series titled Are You Living an Upside-Down Life? The ARISE Sprouts series (“It Takes a Lot of Loving to Grow Little Sprouts”) is a teen pregnancy prevention and awareness curriculum.  Are You Living an Upside-Down Life? is a unique collection of memorable stories, motivational posters and playlets designed as a life-skills curriculum for at-risk youth. The information in this book shows the consequences of living an “upside-down life”—placing sex, risky behavior and possible pregnancy before school, meaningful relationships, maturity and a secure future.

The book targets teen girls 13–19 years old; however, there is plenty of relevant information for teen boys as well. It emphasizes getting an education, building relationships, and not rushing into teen parenthood. Readers will find out what life has in store for the teen mom.

The book also includes information for group facilitators on how to conduct life-skills groups with youth in their care. It provides valuable tips on how to make lessons engaging through role-play, brainstorming and group discussions.

This publication is ideal for organizations working with at-risk youth. Currently, the ARISE Sprouts series is being used in eight juvenile justice facilities in Florida alone: Palm Beach, Dade, Osceola, Polk, Orange and Hillsborough Regional Juvenile Detention Centers, Monticello New Life and Milton Girls Juvenile Residential Facility.

Since ARISE was established almost three decades ago, it has trained and certified over 5,000 group facilitators (instructors) who have taught more than 4,000,000 documented hours of ARISE life-skills lessons in Florida alone. ARISE is used across the USA and in Canada, Jamaica, England, Australia, Bahamas, Bermuda, New Zealand, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Bosnia, Kazakhstan, Kingdom of Bahrain, South Africa, American Samoa, and now Vietnam. The ARISE curriculum is also available in Spanish.
